Building Toward Launch

With Hytale releasing next week, things are finally starting to feel real. This update explains how Nexite came to be, why we’re starting small, and what the plan looks like as we move toward launch.
How we got here
When Hytale was first announced back in 2018, we were instantly interested. Like a lot of people, we spent years thinking about server ideas and what could be built once the game released.
Since then, a lot has changed. Some projects didn’t work out, some experiments failed, and a few actually succeeded. Each taught important lessons, especially about planning, keeping things realistic, and finishing what you start.
When it was announced that Hytale had been saved and development would continue, it felt like the right moment to finally commit to something long term. Nexite exists because of that decision, and because of everything we learned along the way.
Why start with Hunger Games?
After working on servers for years, one problem kept coming back: trying to do too much at once.
Big ideas are exciting, but they often lead to projects that take years and never actually launch. With Nexite, the goal is to avoid that.
We’re starting with Hunger Games because it keeps things grounded.
It’s a familiar format and easy to understand. It doesn’t need a ton of content to work well. That gives us room to focus on the backend and core systems. This way, we avoid getting stuck trying to build something massive too early.
Instead of jumping straight into a massive progression system or MMORPG, we’re making sure the network itself is solid first. That includes things like parties, friends, matchmaking, and overall stability.
Once the foundation is solid, adding new games and features becomes much easier.
Plans beyond Hunger Games
Hunger Games is just the starting point.
If there’s enough interest, we may add a few more smaller minigames. Adding dozens of games doesn’t help if there aren’t enough players to support them, so the focus will stay on quality rather than quantity.
The long term goal is a larger, progression based game mode. That’s where a lot of the bigger ideas are, but it’s still early, so we don’t want to promise too much yet.
Those plans will become clearer once the network is live and growing.
Current progress and what’s next
Over the past two months, most of the work has gone into building the backend for the network. This was the biggest challenge early on, and it’s now in a good place to support fast testing and development.
Once we get access to the Hytale server files, we can start putting everything together and testing right away. From there, the goal is to get something playable out early, without forcing a launch before it actually feels ready.
We’ll share updates as things progress.
If you want to stay up to date, our Discord is the best place to do that. All announcements and progress updates are shared there.
